Engineering
the future
of energy

Our Manufacturing Engineering and R&D teams are specialists and engineers from all over the world, with skills and experiences from a broad range of disciplines and industries spanning chemical, electrical, mechanical, and industrial engineering.

Our engineers are collaborative, nimble, and always open to learn and grow. Together they work toward the shared goal of scaling and industrializing the production of our lithium-ion battery technology that will help Volvo Cars transform into a pure electric car manufacturer.

The team is currently focused on designing, planning and equipping a world-class Gigafactory in time for our start of production in 2026. This is an incredible engineering challenge, requiring the joint efforts and contributions of talented people working cross-functionally to produce the world’s most sustainable lithium-ion batteries, in the world most sustainable city.

 Get to know us

  • In 2024 we’ll more than double the size of our Engineering teams. We’ll always be on the lookout for great engineers, but this is the time to join if you want to play a central role, influence the project and learn the full spectrum of battery manufacturing from scratch.

  • Excellent colleagues and inspiring leadership, a project in full swing, rapidly growing teams, lots of excitement and high levels of activity in ramping up for equipment installation in 2025.

With the end of 2026 our target date for Start of Production, the project is really kicking it up another gear, and you’ll be joining during a very exciting phase where we bring our plans to life.

  • In short, no. Whilst strictly necessary in some roles, we recognize the value in transferable skills and engineering experiences gained in other environments, for example from advanced manufacturing and process industries.

  • Battery manufacturing is a mixture of electrical, chemical and mechanical engineering where the main process steps are Electrode Engineering, Cell Assembly Engineering, Formation & Ageing and Material Flow Engineering. Within these areas we’re looking for experts across virtually all disciplines of engineering ranging from Process, Design, Automation, Technical Project Managers, Equipment Engineers, Management to mention only a few.

  • To us drive, curiosity, out-of-the-box-thinking, teamwork and the ability to find a way forward is critical. Beyond deep technical capability we also wish to see that you mirror our incredible team - that you’re respectful, considerate, kind to those around you, and able to advocate your ideas.

  • Our project is a complex one where we’re not only equipping a high-tech factory, but also one where we’re establishing a brand-new industry at breakneck speed. Changes are inevitable and certainty is never a given. To thrive in this environment, you need to be comfortable in ambiguity, have the drive and grit to keep moving forward and build trust-based relationships with those around you.

  • As of spring 2024, our new offices will be onsite in Torslanda where our Gigafactory is currently being built. Here you’ll have direct access to your cross-functional colleagues and have the opportunity to see this massive project take shape with your own eyes

Meet the team

Meet Pooyan Seddighzadeh, Senior Director of Engineering at NOVO Energy. Being one of the first to have built a factory of this scale in Europe, Pooyan is an invaluable asset as we are building our new gigafactory in Gothenburg. Hear why he’s excited to work for NOVO Energy and coming back to Gothenburg, where he grew up.

Meet Johanna Sigvardsson, Factory Layout Engineer at NOVO Energy, and hear some of the reasons why she’s excited to work at NOVO Energy and why we're so passionate about what we do.
